Photo Guide for Car Dealers
At Auto Trader, we value high-quality, consistent images to provide the best experience for our users and to effectively showcase vehicles. Quality photos have been shown to increase engagement and build trust in your business. Below are guidelines for car dealers when uploading or providing vehicle images to our platform:
- Primary Image
- First Image: The first image must be a clear, well-lit photo of the vehicle. Choose a view that highlights the vehicle’s best features.
- Camera Angle: Aim to position the camera at the same level as the vehicle’s wing mirror for a balanced perspective of the car.
- Image Content
- Overlays: Overlays such as large sale stickers, price tags, or promotional banners that dominate the image are discouraged. These elements distract from the vehicle and reduce the quality of the viewing experience.
- Acceptable Overlays: Small overlays, such as footers or corner labels, are acceptable in premium packages, but they are not encouraged as they may detract from the vehicle image.
- Branding and Backgrounds
- Dealer Branding: It is acceptable to include your shop or retail branding in the background of the image. However, this branding should not dominate the photograph. The focus must remain on the vehicle itself.
- Image Quality
- Ensure all images are clear, well-lit, and free from excessive reflections or obstructions. Blurry or dark images can negatively affect the appeal of the listing and reduce enquiries.
