Liam Lawson has managed to end his weekend at Silverstone on a high after finishing the British Grand Prix in sixth position.
The points finish in the main race follows an impressive result from Liam in the sprint race earlier, where he finished eighth.
These results put Lawson on 39 points for the Driver’s Championship, moving him to within three points of Pierre Gasly in ninth.
Speaking to the media following the race, Lawson was chuffed with his result, which marked his fifth points finish in a row.
“It’s been a good day,” Lawson told Sky Sports.
“We had not a very good start, but a really good first lap here with the way the energy is.
“Even on the first lap you can make up quite a few positions. And then the car was just really good. Especially the second half of the stint for us, it really came alive.
“So yeah, pretty happy.”
Lawson’s finish means he’s now the second Racing Bulls driver to score points five times consecutively, since Verstappen in 2015.
Lawson attributed part of his consistency to the upgrades the team has been rolling out on the car.
“At the moment, yes. I mean the big test was going to Barcelona and testing really the high speed balance,” Lawson said when asked about the car.
“Because we hadn’t had that from when we brought this sort of bigger upgrade to Canada. And it’s been really, really good.
“It’s just getting better every weekend. Things are very strong. Obviously some tough tracks coming up, but I mean no reason why it shouldn’t be strong there as well.”
