Liam Lawson has continued his points scoring streak in Formula 1 with a ninth-place finish at the Red Bull Ring in Austria.
While the Grand Prix featured a lot of overtaking, both Liam and his team mate Arvin Lindblad finished in the same position as where they qualified.
“It was really hot out there today, but overall it was a good race,” said Lawson. “Tyre degradation was pretty much as we expected, which meant we were able to stick to our plan.
“In the first stint we were managing some very high brake temperatures, but that settled down after a few laps. There was also a miscommunication between Arvid (Lindblad) and I, so I was surprised when we ended up racing into Turn 4, but I was able to regain the position after the second pit stop.
“We made a good step forward with the car this weekend, and the pace was strong throughout the race. To come away with double points is a great result for the team, and we’ll be looking to keep that momentum going. A sprint weekend at Silverstone gives us another great opportunity, and I’m really looking forward to getting back out there.”
Towards the front of the pack, Max Verstappen and Kimi Antonelli were busy battling with the Ferraris of Charles LeClerc and Lewis Hamilton for most of the race.
While George Russell managed to put his Mercedes atop the podium, Max Verstappen finished just 1.5-seconds behind to claim second.
Kimi Antonelli rounded out the podium, building a 19-second gap to fourth-place Oscar Piastri by the time the race ended.
