The XC60 R-Design is set to debut at September’s Frankfurt Motor Show, with major changes being a specially tuned lowered sports chassis and a distinctive bodykit.
The steering ratio has been tightened up to improve steering response.
The five-spoke aluminum wheels are also unique for the R-Design models. In standard form they measure 18in but there’s also the option of a 20in set. Another new feature is that the lower section of the car is now colour-matched to the rest of the body instead of the matte black design of the standard model.
Other aesthetic features are matte-silver exterior trim, twin chrome tailpipes and silver wing-mirror housings.
The R-Design pack also features a number of interior enhancements, with aluminium inserts on the dash, doors and steering wheel.
Alloy pedals and a more supportive seat design reinforce the R-Design package’s sporty theme.
The XC60 R-Design is expected to go on sale overseas in late 2009 – no word yet on whether it will reach our shores.
