The new Ford Ranger was developed on the same platform as the new Mazda BT-50, at Ford’s facilities in Melbourne, Audtralia.
The Ranger offers features such as a rearview camera system, trailer sway control, rear park assist and adaptive load control.
One petrol and two diesel engines will be available, along with a six-speed automatic or manual transmission.
Four-wheel-drive versions will be able to switch from 4×2 to 4×4 any time, with the touch of a button on the console.Low-range gearing can also be enabled.
The new Ranger is bigger than ever – the double cab is 190mm longer, 43mm wider, and 63mm taller. Wheelbase has increased 220mm.
Carrying capacity has also grown, up to 1500kg.
Ford said the Ranger model line will offer everything from a basic work vehicle, with interiors that can be hosed out, to models such as the yet-to-be-revealed Ranger Limited and Ranger Wildtrak. Four body styles will be offered.
The new Ranger will be built in Thailand and sold in 180 countries.
