The 2011 Highlander has the choice of two drive trains and two equipment grades. There are 2WD and 4WD entry level models, plus the flagship 4WD Limited.

It is powered by a 3.5-litre dual VVT-i petrol engine with an electronically controlled 5-speed automatic transmission with sequential manual-style gear selection.

The engine delivers 201kW of power and 337Nm of torque.

Highlander’s exterior look has changed with a fresh bonnet, bumper, front guard, headlight and grille designs as well as new bumper, lamp and spoiler designs at the rear.

The entry level models gain a larger rear spoiler, previously only available on the 4WD Limited.

A new feature for Highlander, puddle lamps have been integrated into both the left and right door mirrors, designed to illuminate the ground underneath the vehicle.

The 17” wheels of the entry level models change from 6-spoke to a sportier 7-spoke design. The 4WD Limited model’s 19” alloys remain unchanged.

Two new exterior colours have been added for the 2011 Highlander: Dark Furnace and Cosmos Blue.

Inside the 2011 Highlander, a high gloss silver trim has been added to the instrument panel.

Perforated leather has been adopted for the front face of the 4WD Limited’s front and second row leather seats.

Improving the comfort and versatility of the third row seats, these are now able to be folded separately, splitting 50/50.

All 2011 Highlander models offer driver and passenger front, driver’s knee, front side and three-row curtain shield airbags. An Anti-lock System (ABS) with Electronic Brake-force Distribution (EBD) and Brake Assist (BA) is standard, as is steering assisted Vehicle Stability Control Plus (VSC+) and Traction Control (TRC).
