The new Triton will be more efficient, offer high levels of safety and raise the bar for passenger car-like driving performance, while retaining the durability and reliability it’s become renowned for.

Power comes from a new all-aluminium 2.4-litre MIVEC variable-geometry turbo diesel, with a massive 20% improvement in fuel economy, expected to be best in class.

The new Triton’s bold, athletic design is outstandingly aerodynamic for a utility, contributing to fuel efficiency and quiet performance.

Interior space and load capacity are further improved, while a focus on sound insulation, absorption and vibration damping contributes significantly to cabin quietness.

Mitsubishi Motors sales and marketing head Daniel Cook commented: “This very sharp new Triton will perform the dual role of work truck and family car better than ever.”

He added: “Whether as a tough-as-nails, dollar-earning business asset or a comfy, sporty, family adventure vehicle, Triton already enjoys a massive New Zealand reputation with businesses and private owners alike.

“Now there’s a significant leap forward in passenger comfort, manoeuvrability and fuel efficiency, while delivering even more of the toughness, reliability and safe off-road performance that have made Triton such a success.”

The new Triton will launch in New Zealand during Q2 2015. No detail is yet available on the New Zealand model range.
