A continuous centre console which runs from the dashboard to the rear cabin creates individual spaces for all four occupants.
Despite its low-slung, coupe-like lines, Porsche says the Panamera provides “exceptional head and legroom” for all occupants. It says those are “unique qualities in a sporting car yet essential for grand touring.”
Porsche is offering a wide choice of customising options for the interior. Smooth and natural leathers are available in a 13 colour and material combinations.
They include four two-tone options that can be combined with seven optional interior trim finishes including carbon fibre and natural olive wood.
The safety package includes driver and front passenger airbags, curtain airbags and – on the front seats – side and knee airbags. Side airbags are available for the rear seats as an option.
Four-zone automatic air conditioning is an added-cost option, providing individual adjustment of temperature, blower intensity and air distribution for each seat.
Customers can order a Burmester High-End Surround Sound System which features more than 2400 square centimetres of sound membranes to deliver sound similar to that of a live concert.
Sixteen speakers run by 16 amplifier channels with an overall output of more than 1000 watts are complemented by an active subwoofer and 300 W Class D amplifier.
The Panamera’s boot can hold four suitcases stowed in an upright position for easy access. The S’s luggage capacity is 445 litres, and the Panamera Turbo’s is 432 litres. With the rear seatbacks folded, luggage capacity increases to 1250 litres.
Initially, Porsche will sell the Panamera with V8 engines only, with either rear or all-wheel drive.
The Panamera S’s 4.8-litre V8 develops 294kW and drives the rear wheels by a standard six speed manual or optional seven-speed double-clutch gearbox.
Porsche quotes 0-100km/h in 5.4 seconds, a 283km/h top speed, combined fuel consumption of 10.8 litres/100 km) and Co2 emissions of 253 grams/km.
The four-wheel drive Panamera 4S uses the same engine coupled to the seven-speed double clutch (PDK) gearbox. It will hit 100km/h in five seconds, has a top speed of 282km/h, fuel consumption of 11.1 litres/100 km) and Co2 emissions of 260 g/km.
The range-topping Panamera Turbo has a twin-turbocharger 4.8-litre V8 developing 368kW, driving all four wheels through the seven-speed PDK gearbox.
Porsche quotes 100km/h in 4.2 seconds, a 303km/h top speed, combined fuel consumption of 12.2 litres/100km and Co2 emissions of 286 g/km.
