The SE (Special Edition) Gallardo has an exclusive two-tone exterior.
The car accelerates harder than the standard Gallardo, hitting 100km/h in 4.0 seconds and running to a higher top speed – 315km/h.
Lamborghini is building only 250 Gallardo SEs, but one of them will be coming here.
Greg Brinck of Auckland Lamborghini outlet, Independent Prestige, says one is on order.
He wouldn’t detail the exact price, but says it will be 10 percent higher than the standard Gallardo’s $360,000.
The Gallardo SE has permanent four-wheel drive, a six-speed gearbox, an aluminium spaceframe chassis, electronic driver aids that include ESP and ASR, ABS, ABD, air-conditioning, and two front and two side airbags.
There are six exterior colours: two shade of grey, white, yellow, orange and green.
The roof, engine cover, front and rear spoilers and the side mirrors are painted black.
The rear lights are slightly tinted, and the newly-designed Callisto alloy wheels are complemented by grey or yellow brake callipers.
The interior design echoes the two-tone concept by having all piping and stitching matching the car’s exterior colour.
The Lamborghini shield is embossed on the driver’s and passenger’s seat headrests.
The carpets are black, and the borders match the car’s body colour. The handcrafted interior trim is partially perforated leather.
Lamborghini says the interior design “underlines the new, more aggressive personality of this Special Edition.”
Lamborghini starts selling the Gallardo SE from September.
Parking help standard
Standard equipment on the Gallardo Special Edition includes a rear view camera, which in combination with the built-in multimedia screen helps make parking easier.
The car also gets sports suspension, a sports steering wheel and P Zero Corsa tyres developed by high-performance driving. A long list of standard equipment comprises also an exclusive car cover.
Upon request a vast range of additional equipment is available.
Customers can choose the e.gear automatic manual gearbox, a navigation system, heated side mirrors, and fully electrical and heated seats.
A winter package (heated seats, side mirrors, heated wash jets, rubber floor mats, 12 Volt outlet), and a lifting system are also available.
Standard tyres can be ordered instead of the sports tyres at no added cost.
Electrifying performance
For the SE, Lamborghini has fitted the six-speed gearbox with shorter ratios in the first five gears, enhancing the performance of the vehicle.
That gives an 0.2-second acceleration improvement in the 0-100km/h sprint which now takes 4.0 seconds.
Top speed rise by 6km/h, to 315km/h.
On e.gear-equipped cars, a feature called “thrust mode”, optimises acceleration and gear change from a standing start throughout all gears.
The SE also has more direct and precise steering than the standard Gallardo.
