British brand MG has returned to the automaker world with its latest model, the MG6.
The MG6 is a sporting five seat fastback model, which MG hopes will “capture the character of the MG brand and bring something different to the volume market”.
Speculation is that the MG6 will be powered by either a 1.8-litre four cylinder with 133bhp and 183Nm of torque, or a 1.8 litre turbocharged engine with 160bhp and 214Nm of torque.
The MG6 will begin production next month at a new MG plant in Lingang, China, and at home in the UK, with production slated to begin in late 2010 at its plant in Birmingham.
“This is a milestone day for the iconic MG brand and for the UK automotive industry,” said Guy Jones, director of sales and marketing for MG Motor UK.
