There will be just 333 examples of the Audi 560bhp GT version of the R8 supercar produced.
The GT R8 will have a more powerful 5.2-litre V10 engine with a stiffer chassis, revised aerodynamics and weight-saving technology.
The output of the engine has been increased to 412 kW (560 hp). Vehicle weight has been reduced by roughly 100kg to 1525kg thanks to a new carbon fibre liftback, fixed rear wing, modified brake calipers and thinner windscreen glass.
The Audi R8 GT reportedly accelerates from zero to 100 kmh in 3.6 seconds – 0.3 seconds quicker than the R8 V10. It will reach a top speed of 320 kmh.
Audi says the R8 GT will be suitable for track days and club competition events.
Optional equipment will include a bolt-in roll cage, four-point race belts, fire extinguisher and kill switch for the battery.
Externally the GT is distinguished by a front splitter, carbonfibre ‘winglets’ on the corners of the front bumper and the fixed rear wing.
If the special model makes its way to New Zealand, expect a price of around $352,000 – but for that price you’ll get a special badge on the shift lever knob with the production number on it.
