BMW will get car fans arguing with the radical coupe-like Concept 5 Series Gran Turismo which debuts next month at the Geneva motor show in Switzerland.

The car’s fastback styling draws on the BMW X6 crossover, with the front end echoing the 5-Series sedan’s.

All four doors feature frameless windows, and the car has a large panorama roof.

The Concept Gran Turismo has a single piece tailgate which, when closed, allows access to the traditional boot by flipping up the vertical section of the lid.

The show car has a coupe-like cabin with four individual seats, either side of a front to rear central console.

Each rear seat is electrically adjustable for backrest rake as well as fore and aft movement. Rear headroom is similar to a BMW X5 with legroom on a par with a BMW 7 Series. The rear seats fold forward to create a 1650-litre cargo area.

The flared wheelarches, house 21-inch alloy wheels, and the concept’s paint colour is Fluid Cuprite (Cuprite is an oxide of copper), a new colour developed specifically for this car.
