In New Zealand, BMW says more than 300 prospective customers have already registered to receive updates about the X1, and will be the first to receive product news and pricing information about BMW’s new ‘baby’ Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV).

BMW Group New Zealand Managing Director Mark Gilbert said his company and its dealers are looking forward to the New Zealand launch of the BMW X1.

“This vehicle has been extremely well received in European markets and strong interest here suggests it will be a runaway success in New Zealand as well,” says Gilbert.

The BMW X1 is the smallest member of the BMW xDrive family, blending the ride-height, load-space and practicality of a lifestyle SAV with a compact sports wagon.

Available in both two-or-four wheel drive, and with a range of petrol and diesel engines, the BMW X1 will feature xDrive all-wheel-drive technology, as well as a wide range of BMW EfficientDynamics features including Brake Energy Regeneration, Auto Start Stop and a gearshift point indicator.

The new BMW X1 is expected to reach New Zealand in early 2010.
