If you want a right-hand drive version of the new Chevrolet Camaro you’ll have to get it converted locally – just as you had to do with the last of the old models of the iconic pony car.
Reports suggest Chevy has abandoned plans to offer an ex-factory RHD Camaro in the wake of the world economic downturn and the financial woes that trouble Chevrolet’s parent company, General Motors.
Chevy has started building the pony car, and is understood to have started tooling up for right-hook versions but has now abandoned those plans.
The Camaro is based on the rear-wheel drive platform that underpins the Holden Commodore VE.
Chevy says it has more than 10,000 orders for the car from American buyers. It sells the car with V8 and V6 motors in the US.
