Ford releases more Focus RS photographs

Ford says the front-driver will hit 100km/h in under six seconds and has a top speed higher than 260km/h. It goes on sale next year.

Till now, Ford has only shown the bright green metallic paint which is intended to reflect the livery worn by Ford’s World Rally Championship Focus cars.

But the RS will be available in two other colours, Ford Performance Blue as shown here, and Frozen White.

Each colour comes with the choice of blue or green colour matched interior, and a full black leather option is available for all three exterior colours.

The car has a unique, twin-blade, black RS rear roof spoiler echoing the Focus WRC.

The RS’s Duratec 2.5-litre, five-cylinder engine, tuned to develop 300 horsepower and 440Nm of torque. The engine has unique camshafts, a revised cylinder head and gasket and revised intake and manifold system.

The RS uses a front suspension system known as a RevoKnuckle which is designed to reduce unwanted steering disturbance and torque steer. The RevoKnuckle works in conjunction with a Quaife Automatic Torque Biasing limited-slip differential. 

Ford says it considered all-wheel drive but believes it can eliminate the weight of AWD from the car and still deliver excellent traction, handling and performance.

Ford Europe high-performance boss, Jost Capito, says the RS’s lightweight set-up delivers the “right blend of traction and razor sharp controllability – in a way no one would have expected from front-wheel drive.”
