But Ford New Zealand public affairs manager says there are no plans to sell the road rocket here.

Ford today confirmed the turbocharged 2.5-litre, five-cylinder Duratec petrol engine’s output at 305 horsepower, with peak torque of 440Nm.

It says the six-speed RS will hit 100km/h in under six seconds and has a targeted top speed of more than 260km/h.

The front-wheel drive RS gets a unique bonnet, front bumper and side skirts and has19-inch alloy wheels wearing 235/35 tyres.

The twin-bladed rear spoiler and the exterior mirrors are finished in high-gloss black finish. Front seats are Recaros, with side bolsters trimmed to match the colour of the car – green for Ultimate Green models, blue for Performance Blue and Frozen White cars. Rear passengers have sculpted Recaro-style seats.

Added cost extras include partially leather-trimmed seats, Bluetooth hands-free phone connectivity and USB port, and metallic versions of the blue and green exterior colours.

A $2250 Luxury Pack includes Dual-Zone Electronic Automatic Temperature Control air-conditioning; automatic headlights; rain-sensor wipers; auto-dim rear-view mirror; rear parking-distance sensors; tyre deflation-detection; and a Ford Key-Free system.

Adding a Touchscreen DVD Navigation System, with seven-inch touch-screen doubles that price.
