Hyundai with a diesel accent

Hyundai New Zealand managing director, Philip Eustace, says the Accent fills the gap left
by the old 1.8 Elantra model.

Standard engine in the Accent is a 1.6-litre petrol continuously variable valve timing (CVVT).
The diesel is a 1.5 CRDi Variable Geometry Turbo (VGT) motor.

It delivers an 235Nm of torque from 1900 to 2750rpm, and 80kW of power at 4000rpm and meets the stringent Euro IV emission standards.

The petrol engine produces 82kW of power at 6000rpm, and is available with five-speed manual or four-speed automatic gearboxes.

The Accent has front and side airbags and roof curtain side airbags.

The four-wheel disc brake system has ABS and EBD (Electronic Brake-Force Distribution)
as standard.

The cabin has extra legroom and head space. The sedan has 390 litres of luggage space, the three-door hatch, 270 litres.

Standard equipment includes steering wheel-mounted controls for the six speaker stereo and full leather wrapped gear shift and steering wheel. The high spec GLSX sedan and hatchback variants add a trip computer and climate-control air-conditioning.

Reversing sensors are standard on the GLSX models, as is an overhead console with map reading lights and sunglasses holder.
