Subaru’s Impreza STi Spec.R was the Supreme Winner in the 2008 AA Motoring Excellence Awards announced at a black tie gala dinner last Friday night. The judging panel chose the STi after a rigorous selection programme carried out in great secrecy at the Taupo race circuit.

In fact, the Impreza did very well, picking up two more awards, the STi Spec-R winning the Performance Car category, and the Impreza 2.0R the safety award. In other awards, the Mazda 2 won Small Car; the Skoda Roomster 1.9 TDI Compact Car; the Mercedes-Benz C 220 CDI Classic Medium Car, and the Holden VE Commodore SV6 the Big Car award.

The Executive Car award went to the Mercedes-Benz C 280 Avantgarde, the Luxury Car to the Holden HSV Grange, and the Small Crossover Car to the Skoda Octavia Scout. Volvo’s XC70 D5 was judged best Large Crossover Car and VW’s BlueMotion cars won the environmental award.
