Irish driver Adam Carroll will start the A1GP Sprint Race from pole position at Taupo tomorrow.

Carroll ran a one minute 14.5 second lap this afternoon to put the Irish car on the prime starting position.

Dutchman Robert Doornbos grabbed the second starting spot in the dying moments of the second 10-minute qualifying session for the Sprint Race.

Kiwi Chris van der Drift will start Black Beauty sixth, after lapping in the 1m 15s bracket, a major improvement over his pace in today’s timed practice and first qualifying session.

In the latter, he languished in 16th place. His session two fast lap came despite a major lose when the rear end broke tyre grip.
