The Dodge Journey’s win for Value for Money is further reinforced in New Zealand with the Dodge Journey now available from $39,990 excluding dealer costs and delivery charges, a saving of up to $4000.

The ALV awards are the only annual vehicle awards in which active, outdoor enthusiasts choose the winners, along with a contingent of automotive journalists who accompany them in the ride-and-drive tests. Testing includes a challenging off-road course as well as on-road driving.

More than 100 athletes and outdoor enthusiasts from around the country who participate in sports, such as marathon running, bicycling, soccer and kayaking, evaluated and judged new vehicles.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee EcoDiesel took the prize for Luxury Off Road Active Lifestyle Vehicle and the Dodge Journey took the title in the Best Value On Road vehicle category.

“This year’s Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year was the most competitive in the program’s 11-year history with hundredths of a point often determining category winners. Jeep and Dodge resonate with our audience because of the brands’ active outdoor focus, versatile yet stylish interior designs and strong powertrains,” said Nina Russin, a co-founder of the Active Lifestyle Vehicle of the Year awards.

“The EcoDiesel engine in the Jeep Grand Cherokee is excellent for towing and extends range between fill-ups on long road trips. The Dodge Journey gives growing families the interior versatility they need at an affordable price.”

The ALV awards were co-founded by Bob Babbitt, a member of the Ironman Hall of Fame, and Jim Woodman, longtime journalist, triathlete and founder of Active.com, as well as Nina Russin, longtime distance runner and auto journalist.

The Jeep Grand Cherokee — the most awarded SUV ever and the vehicle that has long defined what a premium SUV should be — is available in New Zealand starting at $64,990 excluding delivery and dealer costs with the 3.6 litre Pentastar V6 engine and $73,990 with the awarding winning 3.0 litre Turbo Diesel engine, while the V8 powered models open at $83,990 and the range is topped by the Jeep Grand Cherokee SRT which is priced at a recommended retail price of $109,990.

The versatile Dodge Journey is available in two versions for the New Zealand market, both powered by the award-wining 206 kW Pentastar 3.6 litre V6 engine matched to a six speed automatic gearbox. The Dodge Journey SXT is priced at $41,990 and the Journey RT is priced at $51,990, both prices excluding dealer costs and delivery.
