The 2011 model Kia Sportage SUV comes with more rear space and a larger passenger area.

The new Sportage will share key technology with its larger sibling, including the hi-tech, European-developed R-series Common Rail Diesel engine.

Kia says that due to the success of the Urban series, the new Sportage will have 2WD or 4WD running gear.

The 2011 Sportage will get a 2-litre version of the R-series, which delivers much more torque and power than the same size engine in the existing Sportage, while consuming significantly less fuel.

Third generation Sportage design has a changed profile with a longer wheelbase and slightly lower overall height, complimented by a wider body enhancing cabin space for people and cargo, and improving ride quality thanks to a longer wheelbase.

“The current Sportage has been exceptionally successful in New Zealand and continues to be among our best selling models, thanks to its combination of style, space, performance and value. ” says Todd McDonald, General Manager for Kia Motors New Zealand.

“The next Sportage will be better in every way when it arrives and we will continue to position it very competitively in the marketplace.”
