Ben Harford took the win but it was Earl Bamber’s drive through from the back of the field that captured the imagination at Teretonga Park this morning.
Bamber (pictured), out to close down Andy Knight’s slender series lead, pushed hard as he worked his way through and on to the tail of Knight’s car in the closing laps.
As they charged towards the chequered flag on the last lap, the two cars were virtually glued together, with Bamber’s nosecone right under the rear wing of Knight’s car.
Michael Burdett finished second behind Harford, with Nic Jordan third, ahead of Knight, Bamber and Mitch Cunningham.
Knight now leads Bamber by 16 points with one race to run.
The race was stopped and restarted after a major accident involving Australian Nathan Antunes who has been taken to Southland Hospital in Invercargill.
