Losses loom but Toyota stays in F1

Toyota president, Katsuaki Watanabe, says the predicted $US1.7 billion loss facing the road car division doesn’t mean the company will pull out of F1.

“The change in the world economy is of a magnitude that comes once every hundred years. We are facing an unprecedented emergency.”

But he says: “we will continue F1 and other motorsport activities while cutting costs.”
