Mazda announced that sales of the facelifted version of the 2010 Mazda6 (or Atenza) would begin immediately in Japan, and in other markets shortly after.

The Mazda6 comes as either a four-door sedan, five-door, or five-door wagon.

Changes include a new front bumper and “grinning front end”, remodeled light clusters, and tailpipes, adaptive lighting, hill assist, an adjusted chassis, and a single colour interior instead of contrasting tones seen in the 2009 model.

Engine offerings on the car include a new, more efficient petrol 2.0-litre DISI1 unit replacing the current 2.0 engine. The MZR 1.8 and 2.5-litre petrol engines have also been updated.

The MZR-CD 2.2-litre turbo diesel, ranging from 127 to 178 horsepower, has been modified to make it more efficient and clean.
