The latest addition to the Renault Sport family is the Mégane R26.R.

The Mégane R26.R is based on the Mégane F1 Team R26 and uses the same engine, gearbox and limited slip differential, but has been lightened by 123kg and features specific suspension calibration.

On 23 June, 2008, the Mégane R26.R established a new lap record for its category round on the legendary Nürburgring in Germany with a time of 8m 17s.

It features a carbon bonnet, red 18-inch wheels, new spoiler and graphics, Sabelt bucket seats and harness belts. The absence of rear seats serves as a further pointer to the car’s sporty character

The Mégane R26.R is a limited edition model manufactured at the Alpine Renault factory in Dieppe, France. Total production has been restricted to just 450 cars.

Following its unveiling at the London Show this week, Mégane R26.R is due to go on sale in October 2008 in Europe.
