Mini, Airstream and Danish furniture designer Republic of Fritz Hansen worked together to come up with the creative concept, with motif designs to appeal to the surfing and watersport types.
The theme of the project is “mobile living” and the Mini/caravan combo will be unveiled at the INTERNI Design Energies exhibition during the Salone del Mobile furniture show in Milan this month.
Both the Mini and caravan have been heavily modified – the Mini Clubman decked with a hefty hitch to enable it to tow the 22-foot Airstream.
Mini says a special roof rack can carry a surfboard, the rear seat bench has been removed and the boot stripped out to allow for diving gear, including flippers, a mask, wetsuit and oxygen tanks.
The trailer opens up on one side to give you spectacular views while lounging on the built-in sunbathing bed.
We think this design looks perfect for a Kiwi holiday… here’s hoping it goes into production!
