June 25, 2007, 10am. Mitsubishi has upgraded the diesel motor in its Triton XLS Limited Edition 4WD, boosting its power output from 120kW to 132kW.

More importantly, torque rises from 353Nm to 420Nm, developed at 2200rpm, 200 revs more than the previous engine. Mitsubishi says the torque output is a class record

The braked tow rating on all 4WD Tritons has increased from 2300kg to 2700kg.

Mitsubishi is also slugging away at the opposition on price, in the annual ute price war that coincides with the National Fieldays that were held earlier this month

It has cut $14,500 from the recommended retail price of the leather-upholstered ute for the period of the National Fieldays promotion.
