Morgan to reveal EvaGT

While details are limited, the EvaGT promises to be a four-seater coupe model based on the Aero Supersports platform, but featuring a modified aluminum chassis used on the Morgan GT3 racer.

The vehicle is being designed by computer software, and the aerodynamic styling is evident. The body panels, designed and stamped by machine, will also be made of aluminum and feature a hand finish.

Under the hood of this grand tourer will be a BMW-sourced 3.0-litre, twin-turbo straight-six engine with 225kW and 400Nm of torque.

Thanks to the low weight os 1250kg, that engine will reportedly push the EvaGT to 100km/h in 4.5 seconds. Top speed is 273km/h with a reasonable fuel consumption rating of 7L/100km in a combined cycle.

The EvaGT will have a limited production run of only 100 units.

Speaking with Autocar, Charles Morgan said: “Our goal with the EvaGT is to manufacture a practical car that could be used every day and answer all of a family’s transport needs.” He added, “The EvaGT will be fun to drive, with sensitive hydraulic power steering and excellent chassis balance. The mass is evenly distributed within the axles and the car has short overhangs.”

Morgan has said it is committed to launching a new car every two years, beginning in 2010 with the EvaGT, which will debut at the Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance in California on 15 August.
