The AMG 6.3-litre V8 engine in the new Merc produces 380kW (510hp), 22kW (30hp) more than the C63 AMG with Performance Package, and a maximum torque of 620Nm. All this power is chanelled through an AMG Speedshift MCT 7-speed sports transmission with rear axle differential lock.
Acceleration from zero to 100km/h reportedly takes 4.2 seconds.
As the fourth Black Series model since 2006, Mercedes has equipped the C63 AMG Coupe with an adjustable AMG coil-over sports suspension and AMG brake system (ceramics available) surrounded by titanium grey forged light-alloy 19″ wheels. Available as an option is the AMG Track Package which includes sports tyres and active rear-axle transmission cooling, plus the AMG Aerodynamics package including flics, a functionally tuned front splitter and an adjustable carbon-fiber rear aerofoil.
Exterior highlights of the C63 Coupe Black Series include an arrow-shaped front end with large air intakes in the front apron, lower splitter in black and a bulging aluminuim hood with two air intake vents.
Mercedes has also restyled the skirts with a black molding strip. The rear quarter panels have also been widened by 42mm to accommodate the increased track width of the rear axle. Air openings are placed in front of the rear wheels.
At the rear, the trapezoidal quad exhaust integrated into the black diffuser protrudes past the profile of the rear apron. The boot lid spoiler is painted in body colour, and “Black Series” badging is a feature. All body kit components are made of carbon fiber.
Inside you’ll find two AMG sports bucket seats. The rear bench has been removed to reduce weight, however two individual rear AMG sport seats are available as an option. The AMG performance steering wheel is wrapped in nappa leather/DINAMICA microfiber. Other details include a “Black Series” logo on the dashboard, AMG door sills and AMG sports pedals both in brushed stainless steel, red seat belts and red contrasting topstitching throughout.
The C 63 AMG Coupe Black Series will be launched in January 2012.
