Euro NCAP awarded it 36 points out of a maximum 37 in the adult safety ratings, and a judgement of Good, with a score of 3.35 (finishing top of its segment and second overall) in new tests that assess the front seats’ ability to prevent whiplash.

Safety kit in the MiTo includes Vehicle Dynamic Control (not disengageable) that manages the Hill Holder, traction control, assisted emergency braking, MSR to prevent the wheels locking during over-run, active electronic steering DST (Dynamic Steering Torque), and Q2 Electronic that simulates the presence of a self-locking differential electronically.

While developing the MiTo, Alfa subjected prototypes to more than 100 impact simulations on a Hyge slide, and more than 80 crash tests.
