Highlights of the new A6 sedan is the range of engine options available, a lightweight body, sporty chassis and array of new assistance and multimedia systems.
Five powertrain options will be available – two petrol and three TDI. These develop between 130kW (177hp) and 220kW (300hp).
A hybrid model will also join the lineup in 2012.
Technologies such as the start-stop system, the energy recovery system, and the thermal management system help bring down fuel consumption in the A6. Audi says it has dropped by up to 19% compared to the previous model.
A range of drivetrains will also be availabble, including a six-speed manual, the continuously variable multitronic, and the brand new sporty S tronic.
The body is made mostly of aluminium and high-tech steels, with state-of-the-art design methods.
Depending on the engine version, power is pumped to the front wheels or to the quattro all-wheel drive.
The sedan measures 4.92m in length, 1.87m in width, and 1.46m high.
Inside it seems roomy, and the driver and front passenger are enveloped by a wraparound dash.
Audi has worked with Google to develop its MMI system that allows the car to connect to the internet and Bluetooth. Google Earth helps find the navigation route. The MMI also works with the safety systems in the car, recognising scenarios and “assisting the driver”.
The front seats can be equipped with ventilation and massage functions, and other creature comforts include DC charging points in the rear, huge door pockets, and large glovebox.
