New Jeep Grand Cherokee unveiled

Highlights of the new generation Jeep Grand Cherokee include a choice of three 4×4 systems, the new Jeep Quadra-Lift™ Air Suspension and Selec-Terrain™ systems, and a towing capability of 3360kg.

Chrysler says on-road dynamics are improved thanks to new independent front and rear suspension systems, and a new body structure that increases torsional stiffness.

The Quadra-Lift air suspension system features five height settings for optimum ride performance and adds up to 4.5 inches of lift span that is supported by four-corner air springs.

In addition, the all-new Selec-Terrain™ traction control system lets customers choose the off-road setting, electronically coordinating up to 12 different powertrain, braking and suspension systems.

The 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokee features Chrysler Group’s all-new 3.6-litre Pentastar V6 engine that claims an 11% improvement in fuel economy and more than 800 kilometres on one tank of gas.

Built on a rear-wheel-drive unibody platform, the new Grand Cherokee exterior has been completely redesigned, with a new sculpted body and panoramic dual-pane sun roof.

The vehicle’s 114.8-inch wheelbase is 5.3 inches longer than the model it replaces, contributing to an overall vehicle length that is 1.8 inches longer than the prior model with more interior room. The vehicle also is 3 inches wider.

The front includes Jeep’s classic seven-slot grille, round headlamps and trapezoidal wheel arches.

Seventeen-inch wheels are standard, with optional 18-inch and 20-inch wheels for 2011
