Audi is selling two TTs locally, the 2.0 TFSI with prices starting at $84,500 (six-speed manual) and the 3.2 quattro from $105,900 for a six-speed manual version.
The TFSI’s 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine develops maximum power of 147kW. Peak torque of 280Nm is on tap from 1800 to 5000rpm.
TFSI engine technology combines turbocharging with petrol direct injection.
The version fitted with the S-tronic gearbox accelerates from 0 to 100km/h in 6.5 seconds and has a top speed of 237km/h.
Audi says it can achieve fuel economy of 7.8 litres per 100 kilometres.
The 3.2-litre V6 engine develops 184kW and 320Nm of torque between 2500 and 3000rpm.
Fitted with S Tronic, the TT Roadster 3.2 quattro gets to 100km/h in 5.9 seconds and is capable of achieving a governed top speed of 250km/h. Audi says it can return average fuel consumption of
9.5 litres/100km.
The chassis has been re-engineered, and the new TT Roadster is longer and wider than its predecessor. It has an electrically powered spoiler that rises to increase aerodynamic downforce when the car reaches 120km/h.
The new TT Roadster bucks the current trend towards folding steel roofs on convertibles. It has a traditional softtop which Audi says offers practical benefits over a folding steel hardtop. Its low weight helps sporty driving, and helps lower the car’s centre of gravity. It occupies very little space
when folded and stowed, and locks into place to lie flush with the body, dispensing with the need for a tonneau cover.
The fully automatic electro-hydraulically powered top opens in 12 seconds at road speeds up to 50km/h.
