NZ’s supercar goes on sale

Named after New Zealand’s Formula One champion, the late Denny Hulme, the CanAm was first unveiled at the 2006 Goodwood Festival of Speed. The massive public interest inspired the Auckland based Supercar developer-manufacturer to build it, but have kept numbers to just 20 units.

Powered by a 7.0-litre V8 Chevrolet LS7 V8 pumping out 600hp (447 kW / 608 PS) and 600Nm (443 lb-ft) of torque at the rear wheels, the engine is mated to a close-ratio 6-speed manual gearbox. A sequential manual shift option will be available.

Weighing in at less than 1000kg, the car is reportedly capable of sprinting from 0 – 100km/h in under 3.5 seconds. Top speed is over 322km/h.

Buyers of the Hulme CanAm will also get a great experience. Customers will be given two Air New Zealand Business Premier return tickets to Auckland, one week luxury accommodation, final fitting in the car and some extra driving on a track.

The purchase price of the Hulme CanAm will be fixed at £295,000 (NZ$638,000) plus local taxes on receipt of an order, including delivery worldwide.
