It was a good week for Peugeot, with its 3008 and RCZ also picking up awards.

Peugeot won best crossover with its 3008, and took out the sports car class with the new RCZ in the Diesel Car awards.

But kudos goes to the 5008, which won MPV of the Year, and Car of the Year.

Ian Robertson, Editor of Diesel Car magazine said: “I’m really pleased to be able to announce that Peugeot’s spectacular 5008 is Diesel Car’s Car of the Year 2010. It truly is the right car for the right times, with competitive pricing, generous equipment levels, a good all-round driving experience that is all wrapped up in a package that seats seven. What more could a family buyer want from a car.”

Other winners included the Ford Fiesta for best small car for the second year running, and Skoda’s Superb for best large car. The Jaguar XF won best executive car for the third year in a row.

More than 275 new cars were put through their paces by Diesel Car’s testers, before announcing the winners in 10 classes.
