The 3008 SUV will be the first vehicle in the French automaker’s lineup to feature this new powertrain set-up.

The HYbrid4 features a 2.0-litre HDi diesel engine with 120kW and 300Nm of torque powering the front wheels, while a 27kW electric motor mounted on the rear axle powers the back wheels. When working together, the 3008 puts out 200hp and four-wheel-drive mode is achieved. The electric motor is fed electrical current from the nickel metal hydride batteries fitted under the trunk.

Fuel economy is listed at 3.8 litres/100km, achieved through a 6-speed manual gearbox, stop-start system, kinetic energy recovery system, and an electronic control unit that manages the various modes of the diesel engine and electric motor. CO2 emission rating is 99 g/km.

The Hybrid4 system will get the 3008 to 100kph in a reported 8.8 seconds, and a top speed of 210kph.
