Volvo New Zealand is marketing three special edition cars to celebrate the Volvo Ocean Race, which starts in Alicante, Spain, next month.
The special V70, XC70 and XC90 cars are painted Ocean Blue.
Volvo Ocean Race special edition cars were available during the previous two races. But this time there is a stronger link to sailing.
More interior details echo the materials used in masts and rigs. The stitching on the upholstery traces its roots to sail making, the aluminium detailing on the mats resembles clews, and the unique wheels have been inspired by the movement of the ocean’s waves.
All cars have full leather soft leather off-black upholstery with a zig-zag sail theme. The centre console and other details are in a silk matt aluminium finish.
The door tread plates carry the Volvo Ocean Race emblem, and the roof rack has polished aluminium rails with matt black bases.
A compass is built into the auto-dimming rear vision mirror and the luggage area load cover has a nautical styling theme.
The cars in the Volvo Ocean Race Edition series are $2500 dearer than the standard models.
