MC stands for Maserati Corse (Maserati Racing), the Italian supercar manufacturer’s motorsport division which helped design the new componentry.

From early 2009, GranTurismo S customers can buy aerodynamically efficient front and rear carbon-fibre spoilers, side skirts with the central panel finished in matt black, carbon fibre mirror housings and door handles, and glossy black 20-inch wheels.

Carbon fibre is used on the door sill, door panels, dashboard, central tunnel, steering wheel rim and paddle shifts for the electro-actuated transmission. The MC pedals are machined from solid aluminium.

Maserati engineer have uprated the suspension with stiffer springs, and specially-tuned shock absorbers and anti-roll bars.

They have re-programmed the electronic stability programme to give the driver more freedom, and the MC modified car sits 10 mm lower than the GranTurismo S.

MC options will become available for all Maseratis during 2009.
