Prices for the station wagon 90 SE start at $61,990, and the 110 SE is a station wagon priced from $64,990.

The 2007 Defender has a new turbodiesel engine and six-speed manual gearbox, and is the biggest upgrade to the original Land Rover in more than 10 years.

The Defender is the latest development of the original Land Rover which was introduced in 1948.

The new model is available here in 90 SE and 110 SE models.

They are more refined, with more creature comforts, but still provide unstoppable off-road capability thanks to their high and low range transmissions.

Land Rover says the six speed gearbox offers better on-road cruising ability and improved fuel economy, and the lower first gear gives the Defender an extra edge off-road.

The 2.4-litre diesel engine has 20 per cent more torque – 360Nm at 2000rpm – and is 30 per cent quieter than the outgoing motor.

A new anti-stall system anticipates the driver’s likely reactions by intelligently adjusting the engine systems to prevent stall.

A new fully-integrated interior facia improves quality and ergonomics. There is more comfortable seating with a full-size forward-facing third-row seat option on the 110 SE.

A new high-output heating, ventilation and air-conditioning system has been introduced. Greater ability both on and off-road, plus increased comfort, performance and refinement are among the major improvements.

The 2007 model is the latest in a long line of evolutionary updates to a vehicle which has racked up nearly 1.9 million sales. Since the current model’s introduction in 2002, the Land Rover Defender has consistently sold an average of 25,000 a year world-wide.
