Over the coming months, Saab Automobile’s operations will transition to Saab Australia, a new wholly-owned subsidiary that will control sales and service in both Australia and New Zealand.

And good news for Saab enthusiasts – a relaunch of the brand will take place next year, with the new 9-5 sedan (pictured), upcoming 9-4x crossover, and SportCombi wagon satrring in the line-up.

“We are delighted to make this announcement, which represents the start of a new chapter for Saab as an independent car manufacturer in the Australian and New Zealand markets,” Saab Automobile’s Executive Director of Sales Adrian Hallmark said.

“After evaluating a number of different business models, we believe that having a Saab-owned subsidiary is the best way for Saab to optimize its great sales potential and to best cater for current and future customers in these markets.”

Saab Australia will be responsible for supplying and maintaining dealerships in both countries, with the existing dealer network continuing to serve customers during the transition period. Specific details and plans for the future of the brand’s dealer network have yet to be revealed.
