Former champion Kayne Scott will start this afternoon’s first NZ V8s race at Teretonga Park, Invercargill, from pole position after winning the top-10 shootout at the Southland track.
Scott lapped the Fujitsu Ford Falcon in 62.55s on a track he says he lives for its high speeds. In the run-up to the weekend Scott said he relishes qualifying at Teretonga. “It’s a real buzz.”
Second fastest is Andy Booth who has really found his straps in the Big Ben Pies Holden Commodore. He’s just 0.08 of a second behind Scott.
Then come series contenders, Angus Fogg (Caltex Havoline Falcon) and John McIntyre (BP Ultimate Ford).
Fogg is on 62.921s with series leader McIntyre on 62.943s. Fogg is second on series points, 115 behind McIntyre.
Paul Manuell (Orix Commodore) and Clark Proctor (Metalman Falcon) complete the top six.
