It’s a one-off shipment, and includes three body styles. Land Rover built 200 SVX Defenders to mark the brand’s 60th anniversary.
The Defender SVX, painted metallic black and wearing satin black decals, is available in 90 soft-top and 90 and 110 hardtop station wagon versions. Distinctive exterior features include tubular side-steps, a bold grille surround, clear-lens headlights, diamond turned five-spoke alloy wheels, a reinforced aluminium front undershield and clear LED taillights.
They have custom-designed Recaro front seats, alloy gear knobs, a new audio system with subwoofer and USB socket, an iPod cradle and Garmin satellite navigation.
The soft-top’s metallic silver tubular cage supports a tailor-made, removable black fabric hood which encloses a flat load-space and a spare wheel stowed behind the front seats, as on the original open-top Land Rovers. Each SVX for New Zealand wears an individually numbered plaque, NZ 1/19 through to NZ 19/19.
The Defender SVX runs a 2.4-litre turbo diesel engine developing 360Nm of torque and has a six-speed manual gearbox. The engine management computer has an electronic anti-stall program.
Defender prices: 90 SVX hardtop, $73,990; 110 SVX hardtop, $78,990 and 90 SVX soft-top, $83,990.
