Steven Richards on pole for Hamilton 400

New Zealand-born Steven Richards will start from pole position in the inaugural Hamilton 400 V8 Supercar street race.

The Castrol Ford Falcon driver won the top-10 shootout this afternoon with a lap of 1m 24.7270s on a dry track.

Two Kiwis will start in the top 10 – Greg Murphy from seventh and Fabian Coulthard from 10th.

Coulthard survived a nudge with the wall during the closing stages of the shootout.

Shane Van Gisbergen will start this afternoon’s first Supercar race 12th after being bumped from the top 10 late in the top-20 qualifying session.

Jason Richards will start the second Tasman Motorsport Holden Commodore 25th, and Team Kiwi Racing’s Kayne Scott is 28th on the grid in the all-black Ford Falcon.
