Suzuki Kizashi arriving in May

Three two-wheel-drive variants of the all-new Japanese-built sedan will be available at launch.

A GLX version is to be offered with either a six-speed manual gearbox or the versatile continuously variable (CVT) automatic transmission.

A higher spec Kizashi Ltd flagship model will only be available with the CVT automatic transmission.

With an overall length of 4650 mm and a wheelbase of 2700 mm, the Kizashi has impressed critics with its handling dynamics.

“This is a premium car without the premium price tag, and a unique sports sedan alternative,” said Tom Peck, General Manager of Marketing for Suzuki New Zealand.

“The car combines European style and engineering advances with Japanese craftsmanship,” he said.

A 2.4-litre four-cylinder engine with aluminium cylinder head and block powers the new Kizashi. It has four valves per cylinder, twin overhead camshafts and produces 131kW of power and 230Nm of torque. The engine has twin balancer shafts and variable valve technology

Suzuki says much of the car’s handling finesse and responsive manners are due to the inspired independent suspension arrangement and multi-link set-up at the rear.

The car has been given the highest safety rating in the US, and comes as standard with a comprehensive list of safety features, including an advanced electronic stability programme.

Suzuki New Zealand will release pricing and full specification details closer to the on-sale date. At this stage the four-wheel-drive version is not available for this part of the world.
