Top 10 World Car finalists announced

The 2010 World Car winner will be announced at the New York International Auto Show on 1 April, 2010. The top three will be revealed soon, at the Geneva show on 2 March.

The finalists are:

Audi Q5
BMW X1
Chevrolet Cruze
Kia Soul
Mazda3
Mercedes-Benz E-Class
Opel/Vauxhall Insignia/Buick Regal
Porsche Panamera
Toyota Prius
Volkswagen Polo

A jury of 59 international automotive journalists from all over the world selected the top 10 by secret ballot, based on their experience with each car. The jurors’ next step is to re-evaluate the cars before a final round of voting in February. They will rate each vehicle in terms of overall merit, value, safety, environmental responsibility, emotional appeal, and significance.

Meanwhile, the 2010 World Performance Car will also be chosen from one of these finalists:
