NZ V8s driver Mark Pedersen says his United Video Ford team is showing real character at Teretonga Park this weekend.
Pedersen has put the Falcon into seventh place on the grid for this afternoon’s first NZ V8s race; last week he could do no better than 26th.
The United car had a horror weekend at Timaru in the series’ previous round.
The outfit worked in vain to find a chassis set-up that would suit running on old tyres, but everything it did seemed to make the car worse.
Pedersen says this weekend’s turnaround is a “testament to how strong this team is.”
“We’ve just got to see what car we’re dealt this afternoon.”
The team has reverted to a basic set-up on the Falcon. “We’ve got the good old schoolbook set-up.”
Pedersen says he has to resist the temptation to do too much to tune the car on old tyres.
“But to go from 26th to seventh in one weekend is a hell of a turn-around.”
