GWM New Zealand has announced pricing for its all-electric Ora 5 SUV, which is set to arrive in June.

The electric SUV starts at $36,990 before on-road costs, undercutting the similar-sized BYD Atto 2.

The Ora 5 is powered by a 58.3kWh LFP battery, which provides an electric driving range of up to 430km, according to WLTC testing.

A single electric motor on the front axle produces 150kW and 260Nm.

Its maximum DC charging rate sits at 120kW, which will replenish the battery from 30 per cent to 80 per cent in around 20 minutes.

There’s also a V2L system which can supply up to 6kW of power.

At 4.4-metres long, the Ora 5 is quite a compact SUV, but has grown larger than the old Ora hatch.

On the inside, it gets a 14.6-inch infotainment display, with wireless Apple Carplay and Android Auto connectivity.

There’s also a 10.25-inch digital cluster, plus an adaptive cruise control system.

In New Zealand, the Ora 5 range will consist of the Lux at $36,990, and the Ultra at $39,990.
