Mercedes-Benz has taken the covers off the new all-electric C-Class sedan, which is set to rival the new BMW i3.

This C-Class EV is set to be sold alongside its existing ICE-powered counterpart, meaning it’s not serving as a replacement.

It’s clear Mercedes-Benz wanted to differentiate the C-Class EV from the standard model, as the exterior aesthetic has been significantly changed.

A pair of updated headlights sit on either side of the new grille, which is comprised of 1050 illuminated dots.

The also a radically redesigned rear end, featuring bold new digital taillights with Mercedes’ star symbol in the centre.

This C-Class EV is built on the same platform as the GLC EQ, which makes it 97mm longer than the regular sedan.

Combining this extra room with EV packaging makes for extra luggage space in the boot, plus a 101-litre storage space beneath the bonnet.

This electric C-Class will be offered in both rear-wheel drive and all-wheel drive configurations.

As standard, this electric sedan is powered by a 94.5kWh lithium-ion battery.

The rear-drive models will reportedly be able to cover up to 800km (WLTP) on a single charge, but power and torque outputs are yet to be revealed.

The all-wheel drive models get a 360kW dual-motor driveline, and can reportedly hit 100km/h from a standing start in 4.1-seconds.

The WLTP range figure for these all-wheel drive models sits around 760km (WLTP).

On the inside, it gets Mercedes’ 39-inch MBUX Hyperscreen display, which spans the width of the dashboard.

Both the digital cluster and the infotainment screen are housed within this unit.

A third 14-inch passenger display is also available, with anti-distraction technology for the driver.

New Zealand availability is yet to be revealed for this electric C-Class, but considering Australia will be receiving it in early 2027, we should be around the same time.
