F1: Lawson promoted to seventh position following Brazil investigation
Words: Andrew Sluys
Liam Lawson has extended his run of top ten Formula 1 finishes, following a drama-filled Sao Paulo Grand Prix.
The Kiwi star crossed the finish line in eighth position after his best start, launching from the second row.

An early-race move on Lando Norris nabbed Lawson P2 for a short period, but this didn’t last long.
A late race collision with Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc left Lawson’s rival with a five-second penalty, and the Kiwi was promoted to seventh.
“It was a good start,” said Lawson post-race. “Once the pace stabilises, we don’t really have the pace to fight.
“I’m honestly just trying to enjoy driving at the moment. The car is in a great place.

“The fact we’re fighting Ferraris, McLarens and Mercedes at different points of the race today is obviously cool.”
Lawon’s seventh-position finish nets him another six points, which puts him on 89 in total for the season.
It also leaves him in ninth position in the championship, 47 points clear of Alpine’s Pierre Gasly.

Further towards the front of the field, Lando Norris managed to win from his pole position start.
Max Verstappen was the real star of the Grand Prix, starting from 21st, and ending up on the second step of the podium.
Isack Hadjar rounded out the podium in third, with George Russel and Kimi Antonelli rounding out the top five.
Formula 1 heads to Las Vegas before the end of the month, which might end up being the last race of the season if the Dubai race doesn’t go ahead.
