Here are all the Kiwis competing in motorsport this weekend

The action isn’t slowing down at all this weekend, with IndyCar taking centre stage in our ‘Kiwis competing in motorsport’ line-up. Scott Dixon and Scott McLaughlin will take part in the oval race in Illinois, with Marcus Armstrong only competing on road and street courses.

Hunter McElrea also returns to action (Indy NXT), as does Marco Giltrap (Thai Super Series), Chris van der Drift (Porsche Carrera Cup Asia), Louis Sharp (British Formula 4), Bailey Cruse (IMSA MX5 Cup) and Madeline Stewart (Porsche Sprint Challenge North America).

Scott Dixon and Scott McLaughlin – IndyCar Bommarito Automotive Group 500

This weekend’s Bommarito Automotive Group 500 sees Scott Dixon and Scott McLaughlin test their skills on an oval. The field will complete 260 laps of the 2km oval for a total of 500km.

Having won the last round in Nashville, Dixon has moved up to second in the standings, 101 points behind runaway leader Alex Palou. McLaughlin is a further 43 points behind in fourth.

Hunter McElrea returns to action for Andretti Autosport in Indy NXT, having taken his first victory of the season last round in Nashville. He sits second in the standings, 33 points behind leader Christian Rasmussen.

Indy NXT will race 75 laps of the 2.01 km-long World Wide Technology Raceway in Illinois.

Louis Sharp – British Formula 4

Just 26 points separate championship leader William Macintyre and New Zealand’s Louis Sharp in this weekend’s penultimate round of British Formula 4. Rodin Carlin and Hitech Pulse-Eight are also only separated by four points in the battle for the Teams Cup.

The series will compete four times this weekend instead of the usual three, making up for a void race at Snetterton earlier in the season.

Fresh off two victories in Lamborghini Super Trofeo Asia at Inje Speedium last weekend, Marco Giltrap makes his series debut in the Thai Super Series for Earl Bamber Motorsport.

Giltrap is partnering regular Adrian D’Silva in a Porsche GT3R.

Chris van der Drift takes to Sepand for the ninth and tenth rounds of the Porsche Carrera Cup Asia, driving for Team Shanghai Yonda.

Van der Drift in third in the standings, 35 points behind leader Florian Latorre and 16 behind second-placed Kailuo Luo.

Bailey Cruse – MX5 Cup

Bailey Cruse takes to the track for his second of three MX5 Cup rounds this weekend, having finished 19th on debut at Road America and charging from 22nd to 12th in Race 2.
